witnesses at a local congregation are getting rid of old literature that predates the early 90's.
you can imagine why.
I seem to remember the Org in recent years 'advising' us to use the latest publications for research etc., that way, we'd be up to date with the "current thinking".
I don't think it will be too long before we will be compelled to use the latest stuff - otherwise you could be disfellowshipped for teaching info which was now false - apostate. Such as pre-July 15th 2013 WT.

Just take things easy and be very careful and gentle how you break the REAL truth to those you love. That's the hardest thing I've found - biting my tongue!!

For your loved ones' sakes, search out the Scriptural reasons on here why so many have left, then when used, loved ones can have their eyes opened a lot easier, if more painful!

i've been studying ttatt for nearly a year now, i'm pretty much convinced wt theology is a crock, but i can't just leave as i don't want to lose family, and i simply can't disappoint my elderly aging parent.. .

Hi Captain, I would be slightly concerned if I had done what you have. If the people you've spoken to openly, come across other Witnesses, do you think they will not quote you?

I firmly believe that there is a Creator whose will is revealed in the Bible via the sacrifice of His son. (John 3:16)
I believe with even more certainty that Christendoms religions, WTBTS et al, have perverted, twisted, and capitalised on the teachings of the Bible in order to achieve two primary goals -
1) Absolute control & devotion of all whom they deceive.
2) Financial wealth.
No one who believes the Bible has a complete understanding of all that it says, or is uniquely privy to its whole truth - even some of the writers didn't understand what they were writing, so it's no shame or embarassment to reply that we don't perceive what certain prophecies mean/could mean.
When the time comes, all will be revealed - Acts 17:31.

I have already impressed on my better half that in all probability, (based on Bible reasoning!) the foretold end is not sooooooon in human terms.
The WTBTS is planning ahead for its future, with Warwick and whatever desirable cut-price real estate they can get for the new UK Branch.
Guess what? I'm following their example!! I'm planning for my household's future - but without their yolk round my neck!

Let them do their dirty work, let it be on their consciences, even it's based on the fact that you have declined any/all invitations to discuss your "spiritual" choices with them. They are not masters over anyone's faith - each one will render an account for himself!
If you figuratively commit Hari-Kari, then the elders get off Scot-free and can privately tell anyone/everyone, "He D/Ad", and they'd be telling the truth.

of course they could ditch certain teachings and practices such as blood, shunning and homophobia.. how about if they closed the kingdom hall network (all proceeds back to mothership) and built out more regional mega-churches?

I don't believe U.K . Witnesses are as tolerant as U.S. Witnesses about driving/coaching long distances e.g. the centralization of the 2014 Convention in Coventry for many who never had to travel longer than two hours to reach a venue.
This bewildering, ludicrous, and very costly (to the sheep!) experiment should come back to haunt the numb-skulls who have tried to maximise the income from this money-making event!
With so many more being out of pocket with the extra fuel and accomodation costs (WTBTS recommended hotels!) how many will reduce/withold a contribution once they arrive bleary eyed?
Thousands are going to leave on the Sunday afternoon thinking, "Thank God that's over." They will not be leaving with a spiritually refreshed attitude.
I personally know ones who are refusing to attend (myself included-any excuse is good) because of the punitive and financial stresses involved.

11 As to those who have the privilege of teaching God’s Word in the congregations today, Malachi 2:7 should serve as a caution. It says that their lips "should keep knowledge, and the law is what people should seek" from their mouths. Heavy responsibility comes upon such teachers, for James 3:1 indicates that they "shall receive heavier judgment."
